The promenade by the river was a pleasant walk here in the capital city of Rabat. I know that I don’t really like big cities but Rabat seems to be quite pleasant. Rabat is actually a UNESCO World Heritage site itself because of how it has blended the old and the new. I think I am beginning to see that. I was walking towards the mouth of the river and also one end of the promenade. There seems to be a fortress of some kind here which is protected by high walls and the typical Moroccan residential structures inside it. This complex is the Kasbah of the Udayas.
The Kasbah of the Udayas is an eleventh century citadel that is built on the banks of the river Regreg. From the looks of it, the kasbah here seems to be quite imposing. I’m pretty sure that this kasbah is one of the reasons why Rabat listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. I would be visiting the kasbah very shortly. But I was just admiring this spot since you get a great view of the kasbah. I can see the other people also have the same idea as you can see people just hanging out. I also need to remember to visit this place this evening since it was all lit up at night. Perhaps taking photos of this place would also be nice at night.
