I checked out early the following day so I can catch a train from Meknès to the capital city of Rabat. Apparently, there was a train station which was closer to the medina. The train to Rabat passes there as well so I didn’t have to make the trip to the main one outside town. As I got out of the cab, the cab driver started pulling away with my stuff still in it. Fortunately, I was able to knock on the cab before he got too far away. I didn’t seem to be intentional, but I guess it is best to pay after you get your stuff.
The train ride from Meknès to Rabat was uneventful. This time I knew to get off Rabat Ville instead of Rabat Agdal which was far away from the medina. My accommodation for the night would be a Dar Tsouli which is in the heart of the medina. Although the streets of the medina of Rabat were much larger than others, I still couldn’t find the dar where I would be staying in. There was no sign pointing to where the dar is although Google Maps says I was very near. I called up the dar and it turns out that I was already standing outside it. They operate a restaurant next door which I guess is a good option if you don’t want to walk far.
I got a room right beside the stairs as you get in. It was a massive room with a sitting area on one end and a dining area on the other. At the center is a large bed which may even appear to be some sort of royal bedroom the way it looks. It was nice and comfy but I got one without a built in bathroom. I didn’t have any problems using it though. One thing I noticed that the dinnerware that was on the dining table, it would make noises at the slightest vibration on the ground. I know that these are designs but maybe they could to something about the sound. It took me a while to figure out where it was coming from.
