I have mixed feelings leaving the historical city of Fès. It is very much deserving of the UNESCO World Heritage site status it has and there are countless interesting places to see in there. However, the experience I had with some of the people ruins the wonder and fascination I should have felt. I know that this is where they live and work but the constant hassling of visitors can really get to you. I have met a person who ruined it all for me and I really didn’t feel like going around after that. It wasn’t scary or anything like that but it ruins your perception of the people in general. It is a shame since I think most of the people there would be nice and decent.
I will be taking a train to another UNESCO World Heritage site and it is not that far away from Fès. It is the city of Meknès. There are probably buses which bring you there but I think the train is the most convenient way to go. Besides, the trains go much faster than the buses so you get there faster. By this time, I have mastered the art of purchasing tickets from their kiosk. It is actually very easy to use, it make me wonder why people take a long time to use it.
Anyway, I got assigned a seat in a cabin which has six seats. It could be cramped for some people but luckily the cabin wasn’t full. Although your ticket has a number, I randomly picked a seat which was convenient for me, since it wasn’t full anyway. My fellow cabinmates didn’t mind me and I just slept the rest of the way. It wasn’t a very long sleep since Meknès is only an hour away by train. I shouldn’t be sleeping that much since the train would be going all the way to Marrakesh.
