The inside of the Al-Attarine Madrasa was vastly different from that amazing open courtyard which I entered from. The courtyard was richly decorated with stone and wooden carvings while the upper levels of the madrasas where much less flamboyant. There were a few traces of amazing art here but they would be few and far in between. They have rooms here which seemed to be quite small. The only light source was a small window which was oddly placed near the floor. It was almost like this part of the building was built separately from the courtyard. I wasn’t sure what happened there but that is the way it is right now.
If you continue on to the top of the building. This is much brighter than the second floor. There is a wooden roof which crowns the top of the building with a chandelier hanging from it. There roof has gaps which let the light in significantly brightening up the place. There were also a few rooms here as well some of them have better views but still not very inviting. The rooms even have a tiny window near the door which was odd unless the door was always kept shut. It almost sounds like a prison but that can’t be because this is a school. Maybe if someone wants to concentrate and not entertain guests they can use the small window but otherwise they kept to themselves.
