As I was walking from exhibit to exhibit at the Museum of Andalusian Music, I realized how cut off I was from the outside world. Just outside the walls of the museum was the madness that is the medina of Fès. It was almost like I stepped into a totally different world when I entered the museum. There weren’t a lot of people in the museum and the ones who were there seem like they are museum staff. They don’t really pay attention to me and they were just enjoying the day at the garden in the courtyard. The garden here is almost like an oasis compared to the medina. It was almost like you can just sit here the rest of the day and have a cup of tea while sitting underneath the shade.
The courtyard like the rest of the museum is very well maintained. There were tables here where you can presumably have some snack. It was close to lunch time but I didn’t consider having lunch here. I am not sure what this place was before it became a museum, but looking at the size of this place, it would seem like it was own by someone who had money. The museum seems to be several times the size of a normal home in the medina. Unfortunately, there was no information about this as the people in the museum just kept to themselves.
