I started to make a move into the medina of Fès. I was hoping that I can still find my way back to my accommodation. I can see that Fès is still bursting with activity even this late in the day. As I was making my way in, I needed to pass through a market. Markets are the lifeblood of a medina and I think that is what make them so interesting. It just proves that these medina are not just tourist attractions of a bygone era but they are real places which people still go to for their everyday needs. Think of it as their shopping mall.
Now, navigating markets are not for the faint of heart, markets in Morocco are not an exception. It is noisy, wet, smelly and everything you don’t want. However, it is bursting with life and it is a wonder to just watch people going about their lives. With the number of shops here I would wonder how it is possible the these shops would make money. Most of these shops are already used to tourists but it is still good to ask permission before taking photos of their stuff, unless you have a long lens where you can take photos from far away. I was already thinking for ways to take photos of these market stalls with their colorful merchandise the following day.
