In a lot of ways, I would prefer Bowman Lake over Lake McDoonald. The tranquility I experience here was unlike an I had for as long as I can remember. It starts from the moment you lay your eyes on the beautiful lake. It is an elongated lake with the main viewing point at one end of the lake. This makes for a nice sliver of a lake bounded by mountains. The mountains near the viewing area weren’t very tall. It probably would have been very nice had they been taller but I think that would have made it difficult to come here. I’m pretty sure there are other lakes here would are like that but they can only be accessed by hiking. For adventures like that, I would need to camp out, something I wasn’t prepared to do.
The lighting conditions here at the lake were quickly changing and there was quite a bit of sun coming out. Better yet, there was blue sky showing and it was improving the scenery even more. I still didn’t get the nice hue of the lake but at least the blue sky was reflecting off the water giving it a very nice appearance. The water wasn’t perfectly still so the reflections were still blurry. I’m pretty sure there would be chances for that here. My thoughts also wander into how it would be like if it was winter here. I’m sure getting here would even be more difficult but then again, you would be the only person here. I’m pretty sure that a least parts of Bowman Lake freeze over the winter. The surely would be a magical sight to see.
