When I was asking the tourist information about Polebridge, I was told that it is a very small community with only a few structures and that was it. I was wondering if it is even worth visiting this place since it is so small. It wasn’t that far in the first place and the tourist information lady said she likes the place so I thought I should just go and visit. Polebridge isn’t even large enough to call a village. It is a collection of houses of people who decided to live away from everyone else. It is literally living off the grid as it is not connected to the main electrical grid. They generate power through solar panels. I don’t expect power to be an issue here since there aren’t a lot of people living here anyway. What about mobile service? There isn’t any.
With this kind of setup, the Polebridge Mercantile and Bakery was setup to cater to the people who live here. It is basically a general store for your needs so you don’t have to travel all the way to town for your stuff. The largest big town is probably Whitefish which is more than an hour away from here. The Polebridge Mercantile and Bakery is a landmark here in Polebridge having been established in 1914. It is probably the first thing you see when coming into the village. Not that there are other structures to see here. It evokes a time long past and it tries to keep it going with the off the grid living they do here. You could easily imagine cowboys hanging out here. With the coming winter, it would be too cold for them. Despite having such a remote location, people still come to Polebridge if only to see how different things are for them.
