The following day was another cloudy day at Glacier National Park. Most nights, the rain would fall but it would clear up by the time the sun rises. However, this leaves the ground quite muddy. It was in these conditions that I decided to head out to the fringes of Glacier National Park and explore. This time I would be visiting the north western part of the park in a region known as North Fork. The road goes by the other side of Lake McDonald and it slowly climbs up through the mountains. It is quite obvious that not a lot of people make it here since the roads here aren’t as good as the others in the park.
Thirty minutes into the drive, the road has become a muddy mess. Speeds have slowed to a crawl because of the poor condition of the road. At this point, I was already thinking if visiting this area was even worth it considering the trouble I have to go through to get there. The horrible road conditions continued all the way to the community of Polebridge which is where I wanted to go to anyway. By the time I got out of the car, the car had turned muddy brown from all the splashing. I was hoping that there would be some rain to clean it but I think it would only make things worse.
