I was not happy with my photos at Avalanche Lake. So far I have gotten only one sunny day here. It is not as if I don’t know what to expect since it was in weather forecast but being on a trip, you would hope that the weather would be a little more agreeable. It wasn’t soaking wet but it wasn’t dry either. I head back down to the trailhead of Avalanche Lake giving up any hope that the weather would turn better. The trail walking back to the car park was much easier since it was going downhill. I probably managed to get back in half an hour. I didn’t need to stop for anything anymore. Despite the short hike, my legs were already tired so I just went back to the cabin to rest.
For dinner, I have come to the realization that there won’t be a lot of place open in the park for dinner. I didn’t want to repeat any of my dinners, I would have to go further. One of the biggest towns near West Glacier would be Whitefish. In fact, some people would stay in Whitefish when visiting Glacier National Park. However, this means you will need to drive in all the way from Whitefish which is still a good thirty minutes away. The good news is that it has quite a few eating places and I was happy I have a lot more choices here. I ended up at this place called Pescado Blanco which was recommended by an American lady I met on the trail.
It didn’t occur to me immediately but Pescado Blanco is Spanish for Whitefish. It is a Mexican place. I was hoping to find a good local place but I guess Mexican is good for me. For some reason, I thought of ordering steak. It probably doesn’t sound very Mexican but I thought it was pretty good. The steak was very tasty and the meat was still juicy without it being overly rare. I also had a plateful of nachos which I could have probably eaten the whole night. The restaurant is in a quiet corner of Whitefish and it was easy to find. I enjoyed my meal there and would hesitate to go back there.
