I was glad that the hike to Saint Mary Falls was easier than expected. I was fearing that I was so out of shape that I won’t be able to hike less than two kilometers to the falls. Fortunately, the hike to Hidden Lake was a very good warm up for me. The trail to Saint Mary Falls was well trod and it is well marked for good measure. Pretty soon, you will hear the water from the falls. Saint Mary Falls isn’t actually a very tall however, it makes up for it in terms of volume of water. You can see the amount of water that is pouring through the falls making it feel bigger than it really is.
There is a bridge which lets you cross the river to the main viewing area. It was already afternoon when I went there I was practically the only person there at Saint Mary Falls. It isn’t very often that this can happen but I guess it is because it is already the tail end of the tourist season. Besides, I think the fact that you need to hike to this place deters a lot of people from coming here, even if it is less than two kilometers. For now, I can enjoy Saint Mary Falls all to myself as I relax and recover from the hikes of the day.
