Glacier National Park has a lot of hiking trails to offer. Not everyone can be an olympic athlete to complete the more arduous climbs within the park. There are a lot of trails that would be good for the casual hiker. After all, people who come to Glacier National Park expect to do some hiking one way or another. I would like to say that I was expecting to hike here but like most people, I would have preferred that it not happen that soon. In my case, I wouldn’t have expected to be doing two hikes in a single day. The hike to Hidden Lake is considered a moderate hike and I was already tired from that. Now Saint Mary Falls has another hike, albeit an easy one.
The trail to Saint Mary Falls is very gentle. It winds it was around the valley as you make your way to the falls. Along the way, you will see a burned down forest which is already starting to recover. In the distance, you can also see what is the end of Lake Saint Mary. It doesn’t look like much at this point but Lake Saint Mary is one of the largest lakes here in Glacier National Park. The lake seems to be too far away to walk to and neither do I see a trail to the lake. Perhaps I would get a better view once I reach the falls. From the distance you can already hear the sound of water: a clear sign that the hike is almost over. I didn’t get tired from this hike but I just wish I didn’t have to do it since I still need to drive back to West Glacier.
