One of the places which visitors to Glacier National Park usually end up in is Logan Pass. This is the highest point of the Going to the Sun Road which connects West and East Glacier. There is a large car park here where people can leave their cars when they take their photos or do their hikes. During the summer months, the car park gets full very quickly and people would have to find parking somewhere. However, when I visited it wasn’t quite winter yet but the numbers of visitors have dropped considerably. Unfortunately, this is also the time when construction crews would make the most of the remaining days to perform any repairs on the Going to the Sun Road. I had the misfortune of going during that time.
While Logan Pass is unpassable, visitors can still reach it from East Glacier. One of the most important structures here in Logan Pass is the visitor center. As you might expect, there are exhibits here about the area including the flora and fauna here. You can also get help from the friendly rangers who can give advice on where to go from here. It was actually here that I got advised to proceed to Hidden Lake which wasn’t too far from here. There are other trails here which start at Logan Pass but the one to Hidden Lake is the most popular one.
