It seems that the further I go on the Going to the Sun Road, the lower my jaw drops. The road has been steadily climbing up the mountains. It used to be that the road was level with Lake Saint Mary but you can now see how far below the valley floor is from the road. I didn’t really notice it but apparently I was already very near the midpoint of the Going to the Sun Road – Logan Pass. This is the highest point of the Going to the Sun Road and it also happens to be the busiest spot in the entire length of the road. Because of this, it is advisable to come here early in the morning since the car park fills up very quickly during the summer months.
It was already late morning by the time I got there and I was hoping that there would still be parking. It was already the end of summer when I visited and the numbers of visitors here have already dropped significantly. I was relieved to see that there is still a lot of parking slots here even if the pass hasn’t been snowed over yet. It was that time of the year where the weather starts turning unpredictable. That says a lot since the weather here in the mountains can change very quickly.
