I managed to find my lodging for the full week ahead. I was already excited with the possibilities of this place. The air here is crisp as winter is almost approaching. Unfortunately for me, the sky is overcast. I was hoping that the weather would cooperate so I could get nice shots. It was late in the afternoon and I was hoping to get some shots before the sun goes down. The only place I know would be Lake McDonald, which is probably the most well known place here in Glacier National Park. I was actually staying in a different lake which is the creatively named Lake Five.
To go to Lake McDonald, I need to get out of Lake Five and head to the village of West Glacier where the entrance to Glacier National Park is. The village isn’t actually that far away but it is still a drive away. I managed to find the turnoff to West Glacier very easily. At that time of the day, the posts for the park entrance were already unmanned. This caused me quite a bit of confusion since I didn’t know what to do. The gates were unmanned, so theoretically, I could just go in and no one would know, right?? In the end, I didn’t want to push my luck and I purchased a ticket online. I would have wanted a proper ticket as a souvenir but there weren’t any staff manning the post.
