When we were told that we would be going on a business trip to the United States, I was thinking where I could go after the meetings were done. I was looking at the map for any interesting places in Minnesota. There were a few UNESCO site in Illinois but those were mostly buildings and I don’t think I would want to spend an extra week for that. I needed to look further. There was one to the west in the state of Montana – Glacier National Park.
I actually didn’t consider this before, but a friend of mine who has been there was raving about it, though my friend was very young when they last went there. Looking at the photos, it was worth a week’s trip. It was a bit late when I booked the flights and hotels. The business trip didn’t get confirmed until a month before the flight. Needless to say, the flights weren’t as cheap as I hoped. I took a flight from Minneapolis to Kalispell in Montana where the national park is. The flight wasn’t that long. There wasn’t much to see from the plane either so I was just trying to catch some sleep.
Kalispell International Airport is not a large airport. In fact, you could consider it a regional airport because it was that small. Because it was that small, I got my luggage very quickly. That didn’t matter since it took a while for me to queue for a rental car. It seems that everybody was using the same provider since the other rental car stalls didn’t have any customers. I will be renting the car for the entire duration of the trip so I hope I get a nice one. I was given a Ford Ecosport. It was small but it worked. I had a hilarious time trying to figure out how to use the car starting with opening the trunk. Who would have known it opened sideways. I managed to figure out how to get out of the airport and I was finally on my way to where I would be staying.
