Going to Erris Head

Dun na mBo is a bit of a disappointment for me, since it turned out to be sculpture and not the thousand year old fortress that I thought it was. However, the scenery around the area was spectacular. There was a blowhole which is surrounded by the sculpture. There was also great cliff side scenery here which is typical of this part of the county. I realized that the place is a bit more elevated compared to the last spot I was. I think it would continue going higher as I continue north. The next destination would be the northernmost point of the Belmullet Peninsula.

There is a road which leads to the furthest end of the peninsula. You can tell how remote this place is since the road isn’t as good anymore and cell phone signal has also disappeared. Fortunately, there is no getting lost here even if you don’t have signal. There is practically just one road going there and you just need to follow the signs. In what seems to be in the middle of nowhere is Erris Head. I actually didn’t plan on coming here since I thought there wasn’t place I could leave the car. There actually was. There is a trail you can take to see Erris Head. From the carpark you can also catch a glimpse of the splendor of Erris Head. I’m glad I decided to come.
