I was quite surprised that I was able to explore much of Achill Island that afternoon. I was under the impression that the island was a lot bigger. I think it helps that you have a vehicle with you, this makes it much easier and quicker to move from place to place. A lot of the spots here in Achill are mostly views and there is little to do there once you get there. Unless you are the type to just stretch and admire the scenery in front of you. I usually just take my photos and go. I know this is not the proper way to appreciate a place but that is how it is.
The following day, I decided to head out of Achill Island and see the nearby places. There is an nearby peninsula called Belmullet and it is billed as a place which is stuck in time. I would like to see more of this place but it is a good drive away. The Belmullet peninsula has a long coastline and one end of it actually is opposite Achill Island. I think there would be a lot of coastal scenery here so I am excited to see it. My frist stop at Belmullet peninsula is Elly Beach. It is one of many white sand beaches here in Belmullet. The water around this area seems to be quite shallow and this probably makes for nice beaches.
