Keem Beach is a delightful white sand beach at the very edge of Achill Island. The water is quite calm since the beach is protected by hills on both sides. Despite not having a lot of facilities here, people still come and go for a swim. As for me, I already learned that the waters here will always be very cold and I don’t like it that much. While this is far from a tropical paradise, it is still nice to walk around the white sand beach free of benches and vendors. I hope I would be able to see this when the weather is much better. Today won’t be that day, however.
This seems to be a place which seemed to have been forgotten by time. As you are making your way down to the parking area. You will no doubt see some sheep just grazing on the grass nearby. I guess there aren’t too many places where you can see beach and sheep at the same time. As you make your way down, there is an old structure which now seems to be abandoned. It makes for a perfect subject for some photos with the beach and the surrounding hills.
