I was making my way to Keem Beach which is on the western end of Achill Island. The road was already high up along the hill following the coast and I was already holding my breath for what I was about to see. Based on other places I have seen in Ireland, they would build roads high up along the hill and there would usually be a nice viewing area. I was hoping for something like that here at Keem Beach. As I was making the turn to Keem Beach, the beach itself appeared in front. It was a secluded white sand beach surrounded by hills.
There are multiple stops along the way so visitors can take photos of the view. I always thought that the best way to photograph a beach is to see it from above. Luckily, the road to Keem Beach is pretty high up so you can have a very good look at the beach. In fact, the road doesn’t go down until you actually reach Keem Beach where it starts to go down quite steeply. For now, I would content myself with admiring the amazing scenery before I actually go to Keem Beach. How I wish the weather was much better.
