In my entire visit of Taipei, I hardly ever went to a sit down restaurant. It seems that most of the time, I would be in the middle of a night market looking for snacks to eat. I can be a bit of a trouble if you would just like to eat and not have to walk up and down the street to find what you like. I decided to go for a restaurant on my last day in Taipei. This time I would be having Japanese. Taipei seems to have an affinity for Japanese culture. This also included cuisine. There are numerous Japanese restaurants in the city and you would be hard pressed to pick a best one. I read up on this place called Fei Qian Wu which is in the Zhongshan district of Taipei.
Already, just after getting out of the metro station I already saw several Japanese restaurants. Fei Qian Wu could be considered hole in the wall if it weren’t for the long line of people waiting to go in. They specialize in grilled eel or unagi. While this may not be the most interesting of food, it is one of the tastiest of Japanese dishes. The eel is mostly boneless. The meat can be fatty but that is what makes it so good. It is grilled to perfection and it is laid on top of a bed of rice. Fei Qian Wu has this down to a science. They come out with the unagi and quests would quickly wolf it down. This ensures that people outside won’t be waiting that long to get their fill of grill eel.
