I think I haven’t gotten enough of the night markets here in Taipei. Seems there are night markets in every district each of them has a different character. I have been to the mother of night markets in Shilin. While I thought that Shilin was a place really worth going to, it can be a bit too crowded. For people who don’t like crowds, there might be some alternative places to go to. Take Linjiang Night Market as an example. This is also known as Tonghua Night Market. This seems to be one of the more well known alternative markets and I have come here to see if it has interesting stuff.
Unfortunately, it was raining that night, so it was difficult for me to tell if this place was just as crowded. There were significantly less people here and there were also less stalls. A lot of the stalls here sell pretty much the same stuff as other night markets so you probably won’t be missing much. I would like to think that Linjiang Night Market is one which serves mostly locals, while most tourists would just head straight to Shilin. I don’t think Shilin is a tourist trap either but most tourists would know of Shilin rather than Linjiang.
