I think I spent enough time here in Beitou, I was thinking that I should start to move to somewhere else. I liked Beitou since it is not your run of the mill tourist attraction that I would expect in Taipei. It is also convenient to get to since there is metro station nearby. I realized that it was already lunch time so I thought it would be better to find a place to eat before a move on. Beitou isn’t exactly famous for food. I thought I would just try out some of the local specialties. I ended having braised meat 卤肉.
As the name implies, the food isn’t exactly very fancy. In fact, I would probably consider it ordinary, probably because I was used to this kind of food elsewhere. If I were to describe it, it would be something similar to a home cooked meal. The meat has been braised for a long time that it is all soft and falling apart. The sauce is slightly sweet giving it a nice taste. This is probably something you can easily make at home but they do serve this in restaurants. I remember seeing this in the night market near the hotel as well, maybe I would give that a try too.
