I was a bit surprised to know that Jiufen was actually on top of a mountain. Had I known this, I thought it would have been nice to spend a night here, I thought the cool mountain climate would be nice to experience. However, the weather was miserable as it had been raining the entire day. It think it was a nice that Jiufen has an old street which has roofs over the street. This way visitors can walk through large portions of the street without getting wet. There would still be parts where you would be exposed but it was much better than being out in the open.
When I got off the bus upon arriving a Jiufen, I noticed that the village was built on a mountainside, I thought that the view would be amazing but it was raining that I didn’t get to take photos. Along the Jiufen Old Street. There is a viewing area where you can appreciate the view of from the village in comfort. It was a sheltered area so visitors won’t get wet here. The rain was still falling so the view was quite foggy and there was little to see apart from the mountainsides which is nearest you.
