I finally visited the village of Shifen after hearing about it from my friends. Turns out that the village is quite small and can be easily explored in a couple of hours. This was somewhat disappointing since I came all the way here and this was all I could see. I wasn’t into the whole sky lantern thing which this place seems to be famous for. The train station was probably the main attraction of the village so what else is there to see. I was actually already not feeling it since it has been raining the whole day. Then I saw a sign to Shifen Waterfall 十分瀑布.
Even though it was still raining, I decided that I would still want to see a waterfall if it is nearby. To get to the waterfall, you can hire a taxi to bring you to where the path to the waterfall is, or doing it like me – walk. I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea to walk in the rain. I was hoping that it doesn’t get any worse that this. I was looking forward to the waterfall since waterfall tend to be fuller if it rains. The walk to the drop off point to the waterfall wasn’t that far and it can be easily reached in half an hour. Apparently, you still need to walk further in to get to the waterfall so I think it was worth just walking.
