While I knew that I should visit the hilltop town of Sintra when I’m in Portugal, I also know nothing about this place. I think that is what the tour is for. My traveling companions hired a tour guide to bring us around the town of Sintra. As we were leaving the train station area, I noticed how hilly the place is. Anyone would need some kind of transportation to properly visit this place. We got a nice an comfortable van for our use for the rest of the day. Our first stop would be the Quinta da Regaleira which part of the UNESCO World Heritage site listing. It seems like I won’t need to request any special stops for this tour.
The roads were narrow going up the hills of Sintra. I can’t imagine how a visitor would be able to safely drive around the town. What’s more, parking is a big problem since there won’t be a lot of space to park. When I visited Portugal it was already the end of the peak tourist season, but parking was still an issue, fortunately, our tour guide was able to find a spot to park and he sent us on our way to explore the Quinta da Regaleira, which has an entrance fee so he can’t really go in. We were to meet up with him where he dropped us off at the end of our tour.
