Train to Sintra

Arrival at Sintra

As you probably noticed by now, I have a habit of staying in a place and just set off to the nearby places each time. Lisbon won’t be any different. This time, I would be going off to the nearby town of Sintra. By this time I have already returned the car to the rental company since I don’t think I would be needed it anymore. Lisbon, being the capital city, has excellent transport options. Sintra isn’t that far away from the big city, and they have conveniently built a train line going there. I heard that this place is actually on a mountain so visitors might need to be prepared when it comes to the weather.

Inside the Train to Sintra

As it happened, there is a train station near the hotel where I was staying at. Rossio station is not that far from the hotel and it was also accessible by metro. There are regular departures from Rossio station to Sintra so it was quite convenient for me. The train station wasn’t the cleanest, nor the brightest, so it was a bit dodgy for me. There were strange people roaming about including some people who “assist” you with purchasing a ticket. I managed to figure out the kiosk on my own so I didn’t have to pay anyone for the service. That wasn’t the best of introductions to Rossio station but you can’t really keep people like that away. I met a couple of ladies from the Philippines. They were also tourists and very friendly. I decided to hook up with them for the rest of the Sintra trip.
