I was so engrossed trying to see the inside to the Church of Santa Maria that I realize that I haven’t taken a photo of the place. I think I lost my focus since I saw that there was a long queue outside the church just to get in. I lost time queuing up for the ticket as well. Anyway, considering how large the structure looked, it didnt’ feel like I saw all of the it. There seems to be a long structure to the left of the church but I don’t remember having gone there. Oh well, I was already outside so I won’t be able to get back in again.
The outside walls of the Church of Santa Maria has been whitewashed and it is shines in the brilliant sunlight. Pay closer attention to the south door of the church. This is very eye catching gate is very ornate and it is very good example of the Manueline style which the Church of Santa Maria is a very good example of. Curiously, in spite of its magnificent looks, this south door isn’t the main door of the church. That honor goes to the western door, which is much smaller in scale. It is difficult to photograph the church this close since it is so large. I settled on taking photos of the very beautiful southern gate.
