As I was exploring the historic center of Évora, I came upon this lookout point which shows me much of the University of Évora. The view wasn’t very impressive but it gave me and idea of what was here. I then saw that there was a large cahtedral nearby. The streets of Évora are so narrow that it can be difficult to see what is here. Fortunately, with a little change in perspective, you can. The Cathedral of Évora is probably the largest and most prominient structure in the entire city. No self respecting old city would not have a large church in the center of the city. Évora is no exception.
It was confusing to tell where the entrance of the cathedral was. From the lookout point earlier, I would have thought that the entrance was already right beside me. However, I needed to go around the cathedral to get to the main entrance. From the outside, I thought the cathedral was a romanesque cathedral, with the rose window which is visible from one side of the cathedral. Which is why I thought that the entrance was nearby. The design of the church was rather strange at least the main entrance looked normal enough. The entrance to the cathedral is one to take note of. There are twelve statues here representing the twelve apostles and it is considered to be the best example of gothic sculpture in the country.
