My understanding is that the Historic Centre of Évora is a UNESCO World Heritage site by itself. This is why I didn’t really have a plan in minde when I started exploring the city. Évora still retains it walls and most of the historic center is naturally within these walls. I expect this city of be a maze of streets hopefully nothing too overwhelming. It is rather hot this time of the year and I don’t like to be out in the sun all that time. Randomly walking around a place probably isn’t the best way to spend your time in a new place especially if you only have a limited time there.

I didn’t know which ones are the most important sites here in Évora probably because of my desire to discover stuff, I don’t want to go to a place because I already know what is there. The first of my discoveries is the Church of Nossa Senhora da Graça in Évora. It was in a rather run down area of the city and I probably would have avoided it if it weren’t for the church here. This church is surprisingly old with construction completed in 1511. It also used to serve as a convent but now it is ironically used by the Portuguese Armed Forces. There was some construction work going on the area and I think they were trying to restore the church. The church itself was closed and I doubt that anyone can just go in especially now that the Protuguese Armed Forces now use it. However, the design is quite nice notably the bell on top of the church.
