I had a great night’s rest at the Hotel Dom Fernando in the city of UNESCO World Heritage site of Évora. I have a few days to spend here so I don’t tire myself out. Besides, it is too warm outside to be up and about. But what is going on a trip and not going out. I went outside while the sun wasn’t that high yet, hopefully it would be a bit cooler. The city of Évora is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site under the name Historic Center of Évora. This is quite a feat for a city to be named to the list, so I want to see what is so interesting about it.
The day was beautiful, perhaps too beautiful. There was hardly a cloud in the sky and it was quickly getting unbearably warm. I probably spent too much time in a colder climate so I wasn’t used to it anymore. I wasn’t that prepared for the heat either since I didn’t bring a hat or even an umbrella to keep the sun out. Anyway, I head straight to the nearest point of interest in Évora and that is the Évora Public Garden or the Jardim Público de Évora. It wasn’t that large. In fact, to me it wasn’t that interesting at all. Sure there were plants. There were also carvings of heads of famous people, but it wasn’t that pretty there. It was still good enough for a stroll especially in a hot morning like this one. There is the Dom Manuel Palace which actually looks more like a mansion than a palace. However, it was closed for renovation so I can only look at it from the outside.
