Dinner at Piparoza

Eating at Piparoza

I managed to arrive at the city of Évora just as the sun went down. It was a long day of travel for me so I was a little tired from all the driving. It is ironic that driving is supposed to make you less tired but it can also make you tired. After an hour’s rest, I got out of the hotel and headed to the old city for some food. The hotel was located outside the city walls so one would need to walk a bit to get to town. This is not to say that it is a boring walk since there are a lot of interesting structures along the way.

My main priority is food, I think I spent a little too much time resting and there weren’t a lot of places open. I was walking along the main stress of the old town but I couldn’t find any place to eat in. I then ventured into the smaller streets and lo and behold, there were restaurants. I guess the main streets are too expensive for these restaurants that it was better for them to setup shop along the smaller streets. Tables and chairs were laid out into the street. I initially thought it would be better to just eat inside the restaurant, but it was way too warm inside, so I managed to get a table outside. They were already about to close fortunately, there was still food. I ended up with some pork disk which looks much like steak. The meat was tender and very flavorful. I would later know that this is a specialty of the area and I would having more of this elsewhere.
