I think I spent a good deal of time here in Fatima. The whole morning was quite productive starting with the impressive monastery of Batalha and now the pilgrimage site of Fatima. I didn’t realized that it was already lunch time so I needed to find a place to eat. I would have imagined that a place like Fatima which is supposedly a sacred place would be more quiet. However, there are a lots of restaurants here and visitors would be spoilt for choice. I was hoping it won’t turn into some disneyland type of place and I think for the most part, it isn’t.
There are hundreds or thousands of visitors who visit Fatima every single day. It is not surprising that there would be a lot of restaurants who will cater to the stomachs of the pilgrims. This was probably true even back then. Out of the all the restaurants here, I eventually decided to go to Apollo Caffe. I wanted something seafood and I think I got a little greedy. They serve a massive seafood platter which was very satisfying. Fortunately, I wasn’t in a hurry and I had all the time to finish it. I was the object of envy of the restaurant when the platter was brought out. It had all manner of seafood here include crab, shrimp and oysters. I really enjoyed the meal. I hope I don’t get too full that I would have a hard time staying awake.
