I had a very sinful but satisfying meal at Mosteiro do Leitão which specializes in roast piglet. Having ate all the pork, I needed to walk it all off. The restaurant was outside the old town area so I needed to drive back to town to get back to the hotel. I noticed that the monastery of Batalha was already lit up. I thought it would be good to get some night shots and some much needed exercise after all that pork. It was already night time so it was easy to find parking. I don’t know how bad it would be in the morning but it would be best to get a head start here.

The church building of the monastery of Batalha is massive. It is a classical gothic church with multiple spires all over the place. It seems that the design has gone wild with the design of the church. The church is tastefully lit up at night so it makes for nice photos while the tourist crowd is away. I doubt that there would be a lot of people here in the daytime much like how it was Alcobaça earlier. The facade of the church is so large that it was difficult to fit it in the frame without having to walk far. Already, my imagination is running wild with images of gargoyles and caped crusaders hiding in the shadows.
