I traveled all the way to the village of Rossaveel which is one of the major departure points for visitors planning to go to the Aran Islands. The port primarily serves tourists and there seems to be loads of them here. I guess I wasn’t used to having so many people here that I started to wonder if this Aran Island is a touristy place. I am aware of the existence of the islands and have always wanted to come here but I didn’t expect that there would be so many people here. There was a long queue to board the ferries. It seems that there are multiple departures throughout the day so there was no worry of getting left behind.
I was hoping that that Aran Islands would be closer to land, however, it seems that it would be much further than I hoped. The ferry would be crossing the open sea and the waves were quite rough. I had no idea if this was a normal crossing or the weather just wasn’t good that day. At least, the ferry we were on was much bigger than the ferry which I took when I visit Tory Island in county Donegal. The waves were crashing on to the ferry but it didn’t really matter since the windows were closed. I wasn’t sure if there was an open area, but I wasn’t interested in going there anyway. I wasn’t to take photos of the trip but there wasn’t really much to see along the way. I wasn’t like that time I visited the Skellig Islands where were would pass by the large Skellig Island and admire the wildness of the island. Fortunately, I didn’t get sick although there were some people who did. I hope they would be okay.
