I finally arrived at the bed and breakfast in Galway. I was not prepared for how far I needed to drive and I vastly underestimated this trip. I ended up exploring a tiny corner of county Mayo and ended up having to leave for Galway before it gets dark. In hindsight, I probably should have just booked a bed and breakfast somewhere in county Mayo instead of making the trip all the way to Galway. Anyway, I was here and I was all checked in. I rested a bit from the long journey before heading out to town.
This is not my first time in the city of Galway. I always thought that the city center is a delightful place to be. It has that Irish feeling without it being overly touristy. This is not to say that there weren’t any tourists here. The place was filled with people and it was difficult for me to find a place to eat. I ended up eating at McDonagh’s which also had a queue outside but it moved fast. I had some seafood for dinner with mussels for starters and mackerel for mains. To be honest, it wasn’t that bad, but I thought it could have been better. The fish was a bit dry and I was left wanting for more. The meal definitely wasn’t for someone with large appetites. I had to make do with chips to fill that up and even that wasn’t enough. Anyway, that staved off the hunger for a while.
