The whole point of me visiting Antrim Park was because I wanted to see Antrim Castle. It is one of the centerpieces of the park and it can be easily found. There are numerous signs in the park to various sights and Antrim castle is one of them. As it happens, I would only see what is left of Antrim Castle. There is not much of the structure left to see. The most significant part of the castle is a pillar which somehow still stands. You can still see features of the pillar which makes it look like it used to be part of a castle back then.
There were some walls around the area but it really wasn’t that impressive anymore. At this point, I was already laughing at myself at how I went all the way here just to see this pillar. There were other parts of the castle still on display here probably most significantly is the crest which is somehow still intact. The castle area gives visitors only an idea of how large the castle was back then and nothing else. I wasn’t sure what happened to the castle but parts of it probably already got looted or even used as construction material elsewhere. What’s left of the castle is now protected though.
