Upon visiting Aranmore Island, I realize the reason why people have left the island to live elsewhere. It is too far, too isolated from everything else in Ireland. Internet connection is spotty in places and there wasn’t even a supermarket. That is life today. It was more difficult back then without modern conveniences. However, I can see the allure of Aranmore. While the landscape can be quite hostile in some places. There are places which a mindblowingly beautiful. To me, Aranmore is a microcosm of Ireland all in a small package. Visitors would be wrong to give this charming island a miss.
I head back to the port of Aranmore. I booked a spot on the ferry for late afternoon but I think I am done here and I just want to head back as soon as possible. I was told to wait at the port to see if there is space for my car. It was a small car and I was able to squeeze it in. There are significantly more vehicles now than earlier so I was grateful that I was able to go on the ferry despite not being my time slot. There didn’t seem to be any vehicles which didn’t get on because I got on the ferry earlier than planned.
