No visit to Glencar Waterfalls would be complete without a look at Lough Glencar. The waters of Glencar Waterfalls make their way to Lough Glencar. It is situated in a nice little valley. The valley seems to be quite shallow and it gives me the impression that the lake itself isn’t that deep. The entrance to Glencar Walterfalls has a carpark which makes it one of the best locations to see the lake. Do not expect to get your feet wet here. There are fences here to keep people safe. However, there are a few spots around the lake where visitors can get closer.
Some of these spots have parking spots so it would be convenient for visitors to stop and appreciate the lake. What struck me was how clear the waters are. I would imagine that the water here would be very clean but to actually see it in person is something else. There are points where one can get their feet wet but I decided against it. It may be summer but the waters in Ireland are usually cold. Feeling it by hand, I didn’t think it was ice cold yet. Perhaps the lake waters won’t be as cold as sea water. We spent some time admiring the lake before driving off.
