It must have been ages since I last visited a waterfall but each time I visit one, they never fail to amaze me. I think there is a reason why waterfalls grace so many computer wallpapers. The beauty of the waterfall is probably only matched by the power that is flowing through it. Glencar Waterfalls isn’t a large waterfall by any means but it can still project that power that waterfalls can. I guess the sight of tons of water falling down the pool is always a sight to behold. Glencar Waterfalls is one of the must see sights here in county Leitrim.
The water comes from the mountains behind it and it is not possible for visitors to follow the water all the way. From the maps, it seems there are two sources which merge into one stronger stream. There is a modest drop which forms the waterfall. I can’t tell if the pool is shallow since no one seems to be swimming in it. In other places, the pool is usually filled with people swimming in the cool waters. The water then forms another streams which eventually finds its way to Lough Glencar. Incidentally, Glencar Waterfalls is one of the primary sources of water of Lough Glencar. No mean feat considering how large the lake is.
