I was quite disappointed that I wasn’t able to see inside the lighthouse at the village of Stroove. It seemed to be very good working condition and it would have been nice to see inside. I had to content myself with photos of the outside of the lighthouse. The lighthouse is built on some headland which marks a bend in the Inishowen peninsula. It is flanked on both sides by small beaches. The larger one is probably the more interesting one. It seems that this is a place for locals to play when the sun is out. There is a picnic table here for people to enjoy the sea.
This marks the end of my Inishowen 100 journey. I know I missed quite a few spots here and there and it is probably best explored over the course of at least two days. For me, this is some sort of mini Wild Atlantic Way which bring visitors from the north in Donegal to the south in Cork. That is an epic journey which I probably need to complete eventually. In the meantime, I have to keep myself happy with a portion of the Wild Atlantic Way and that is the Inishowen 100.
