I was very pleased with Five Fingers Strand. It is a very picturesque strip of beach on the north of Ireland. I noticed that there is a hill near the beach and I thought that it would be a great spot for photos. Alas, I wasn’t able to find the way to the hill and ended up going in a different direction. I will probably have to come back and find that spot the next time. The Inishowen 100 continues on to the north of the country, the very north. It is strange that the northern most part of the the isle of Ireland is not in Northern Ireland. That honor goes to the Republic of Ireland in the south.
A look at the map and it will tell you that it is because the county of Donegal sticks out to the north beyond the northernmost point of Northern Ireland. Tourism brochures would always tout that Malin Head is the northern most point of Ireland. Some visitors like to visit these extreme points of a country, though I am not very particular about these things myself. The road to Malin Head passes through the village of Malin, which is essentially a one street village, though that is probably an exaggeration. Though this is not the first time I am visiting Malin Head, it is always nice to visit these types of places.
