I didn’t realize that I was that high up the mountain when I visited Mamore Gap. The road from Buncrana to Mamore Gap didn’t seem to be that steep. However, I was probably going up higher and higher without noticing it. There was a clearing right after the viewpoint at Mamore Gap and visitors can see the Lough Swilly. The drop here was so drastic that visitors get a clear view of the surrounding area. It was almost the Urris Hills just stopped.
I like these kinds of places as long as the weather is great. It was sunny at the time but the winds were quite cold. I didn’t stay too long at the viewpoint. It seems to be a known site since there were other visitors aside from me. The rest of the way seems to be just going down the mountain. Unlike the way here, the slope seems to be very steep. It was bad enough to wait for other vehicles if one would be coming down. Usually, the ones going uphill would be waiting though. It was a little scary to be going down this mountain road I just wished that I could have taken photos of the way down.
