This is probably the first time I have run into a land feature which is called a gap. Apparently, a gap is a piece of land between two mountains or hills. I would have probably called it a valley but in these parts it seems like it is called a gap. Perhaps a gap is a smaller version of a valley. The Inishowen peninsula has a gap called Mamore Gap. True to its name, it really is a path which winds through the Urris Hills on its way to the sea. I have seen gaps in Ireland with parking. This allows visitors to come here and admire the scenery. This is no different from Mamore Gap.
The parking area is pretty much near the highest point of the gap itself. The hills are higher but the path itself doesn’t go any higher. Here, visitors can see the Urris Hills which isn’t really very interesting since it seems to be just a pile of rocks. However, as one looks towards the see, one would be rewarded with splendid views of the area. Immediately, I realized how high up I already was. This wasn’t that obvious from the way we came. It seems that just after the Mamore Gap the hills start to go down. This provided visitors with a great view of the road going down the hill.
