The county of Donegal in Ireland is known to be a wild and untouched land. While I would probably agree with the wild part, untouched is probably going a bit too far. It is a large county in the northwest of Ireland and it certainly has a lot of sights to see here. In this trip, I will be driving the Inishowen 100, a driving route which brings visitors around the Inishowen peninsula. I am following a clockwise direction starting from the south. The next stop is the town of Buncrana. I keep hearing the name Buncrana but I never really knew where it was. It is nice to be able to attach an image to the name.
Like a lot of the town and villages in the Inishowen Peninsula, Buncrana is also along the sea facing the Lough Swilly. One thing with the Lough Swilly is that it is relatively calm compared to the Atlantic. It is an inlet which is protected on both sides by land. This makes the waters here much calmer than the ones in the open sea. Entering the town, I was surprised how large it was. I thought it was developed enough that there was vehicular traffic building up on our way to the town. My first port of call would be the beach by the town. Imagine living in a town with a beach right by its doorstep.
