This was probably my final visit to a church here in Bordeaux. The Church of the Holy Cross is 11th and 12th century Romanesque church in the Port of the Moon. This one wasn’t as flamboyant as the previous churches that I have seen. But it still has its nice features. For one thing, the facade of the church is quite ornate. Arch at the main entrance is quite impressive and I was looking forward to see how it looks like inside. The church feels a lot most spacious inside. Although there are four aisles here, there are only two columns of seats.
I noticed that although there are a lot of statues here as typical of Catholic churches, there are a significant number of paintings here also on display. It is not that common to see this kind of set up. Near the altar there is also a large painting. I Noticed that the church somehow has a dual architectural style. While the outside of the church is definitely Romanesque, the interior of the church features a more gothic style. This is probably not that uncommon but it is interesting to see these mixture of styles all in one place.
