It was that time of the day again, it was time for me to look for a place to have dinner. Toulouse has no short of eating places but which one. I was hoping to get some regional fare but I wasn’t sure if Toulouse has any of that. I keep hearing about Lyonnaise cuisine but not Toulouse. I already had a sample of the food in Carcassonne’s cassoulet which I thought was okay. I kept walking around until I got tired and just looked for the nearest place to eat at. That place turned out to be Monsieur Georges.
I don’t know if Monsieur Georges is just another run of the mill French restaurant but there seemed to be a lot of people eating there and they didn’t seem to be tourists. I took that as a good sign. I decided to bite the bullet and order beef tartare. When I was looking up food for this region of France, I came across beef tartare. Basically, it is raw ground beef. I am reminded of sashimi in Japanese except that this is beef. I was concerned about bacteria since it was not cooked at all. And it seems to be a legitimate concern, however, this is a proper restaurant and I would like to believe that the restaurant has taken precautions to ensure the meat is not contaminated. The beef wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I guess the best way to describe it is it is like rare steak without the blood. It wasn’t bad at all but I don’t think I would be looking for it. Along with the beef tartare, there was a side dish of baked macaroni. I had a nice meal but I left the restaurant not knowing who this Monsieur Georges is.
