I stumbled into a very old church which was built from the sixth century. The Notre-dame de la Dalbade was sitting at a rather old looking area of Toulouse. It blends in with the rest of the buildings in Toulouse with the red brick facade common in the city. I came as a surprise to me that this church used to be white. I only believed that when I went in the church. It was white which is supposed to reflect the traits of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The church was actually larger than it looked from the outside. The inside of the church felt more like a gothic church rather than a Romanesque one. I guess it is a mixture of styles. There were stained glass windows which let the light in the church. But they were high up and thus the lower parts of the were dark. The church has several chapels which can be found on both sides of the church. I thought it was interesting to see that considering that this church wasn’t even a cathedral nor is it one which I would consider big. It definitely doesn’t get a lot of tourists here. I was the only one in the church the whole time.
