It was a miserable day in Albi. It has been raining the whole morning and it has already literally dampened my mood for exploring. It is unfortunate since a lot of the sights here in Albi have to be appreciated from the outside. I wasn’t soaking but it was difficult for me to bring out the camera since it was raining, not to mention that the lens has raindrops on it. I couldn’t find the mood to go around the entire heritage area. So I decided to just see whatever I can without having to go very far. After visiting the Point Vieux, I decided to head back to the town center.
This does not mean that I would just go back where I came from. Instead of walking back along the Point Vieux, I decided to go a different way. Parallel to the Pont Vieux is a much larger bridge which also crosses the River Tarn. It appeared to be much higher as well, I hope I don’t need to climb that much to get there. From the viewing deck for the Point Vieux, it was just a short walk to the other bridge with the rather unwieldly name of Pont du 22 Août 1944. I didn’t have to understand French to know what it meant.
