The Point Vieux at Albi was a major crossing point of the River Tarn back then. Much like modern toll roads now, tolls were levied on the goods which crossed the river. Records of the tolls were recovered here and they served as a very detailed history of what people used, what they bought and thus give insight into the lives of the people back then. The bridge has ceased to be the most important crossing point of the River Tarn but it is a very convenient way to explore the Episcopal City of Albi.
As I was reaching the other side of the River Tarn, I noticed that there was a viewing area. This was obviously for tourists so that they can admire the bridge and the river in safety. I hurried over to the viewing area and realized that the Episcopal City of Albi can be see here as well. The cathedral probably appears smaller than it really it since it appears to be built on top of a hill when it is really much larger than it looks. The rainy weather gave a moody atmosphere to photo but I would probably have preferred sunnier weather than this.
